About
Alison Akester
BSc(Hons) MArch ARB RIBA

Following study at the University of Bath, Alison worked for a small practice in Bristol where she was involved in a wide range of projects from designing cafe/bars to residential refurbishments/extensions through to ecclesiastical repairs and alterations. During this time she gained valuable experience in dealing with complex buildings and sites, understanding the constraints of working within a historic context and how to work within a multi-disciplinary team to see a project through to completion. A re-location to the southeast allowed Alison the opportunity to set up a satellite office for the Bristol based company where she ran a number of residential and commercial projects. In 2018 Alison Akester Architects was established and the experience gained from her previous employer was invaluable in moving forward with her own venture.

Alison lives in the Hertfordshire countryside with her husband and two young children. She is a governor at the local school and enjoys being outdoors walking, riding her bike and paddleboarding. When time allows she also enjoys reading and life drawing.
